SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free today launched the biggest online sales festival in its history, offering discounts of up to -70% on more than 6,000 products from 486 brands alongside a range of other shopping incentives including compensation for disadvantageous exchange rates.

Announcing the campaign today, Lotte Duty Free CEO Kim Joo-nam said it will be anchored by a large-scale ‘Duty Free Day’ held each day for one month from 19 April to 19 May on Lotte Online Duty Free. The retailer said up to US$6,041 worth of accumulated points will be given away daily to customers.

Many popular brands, including Maison Kitsuné, Swarovski, Stonehenge and Barber are participating in the event targeting Korean customers.

Lotte Duty Free quoted recent Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport statistics which show a +53.3% year-on-year rise in international passengers during Q1 to 15.08 million – equivalent to 95.2% of the pre-pandemic 2019 Q1 level.

Lotte Duty Free is also offering a wide array of benefits and incentives, including exchange rate compensation until 1 May for customers hit by adverse exchange rates.

If the store exchange rate per US Dollar on the date of purchase exceeds KRW1,320, an additional benefit of up to KRW100,000 (US$72) in LDF PAY is provided. LDF Pay is a digital payment platform, launched by Lotte Duty Free in 2019.

Lotte Duty Free Channel Operations Division Head Lee Jeong-min said: “We have prepared a major shopping festival for domestic customers travelling overseas amid the rising exchange rate burden. Lotte Duty Free will continue to present a variety of benefits so that popular duty-free products can be found at reasonable prices.” ✈
