Cross-channel ferries were facing disruption today (Thursday) due to industrial action at the port of Calais.

Departures continued but with delays to check-in, arrivals and departures.

P&O Ferries initially warned that the French port was being impacted by national strike action in France.

However, the company said later that the strike action had ended and traffic “is now moving”.

The company said on X/Twitter: “Your patience is appreciated and we would like to assure you that you will be on the next available departure once through the check points.”

DFDS said: “Due to industrial action we expect disruptions on our Calais route.

“Customers affected will be contacted via SMS with alternative travel options. Please keep an eye on our feeds for any further updates regarding this matter.”
